The Extreme Universe Makes Its Way To Netflix

Rob Liefeld is now taking the Extreme Universe of comics characters onto Netflix. This comic creator had signed a deal with the streaming platform in order to adapt his properties into feature movies, and Akiva Goldsman will be overlooking the writer’s room.

“Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Universe features gritty stories and distinctive characters,” Netflix feature movie chief, Scott Stuber had said.

“Akiva’s creative voice has been behind some of the largest movie franchises, making him uniquely capable of helping bring these superheroes from the Extreme Universe to life for Netflix.”

“Netflix has become a part of everyday existence for me and my children,” Liefeld had said.

“Their programming is the most dynamic and diverse I have seen. I am beyond thrilled and inspired to be bringing my Extreme catalog to life with the creative wizards at Netflix. What Akiva Goldsman has achieved with his craft and storytelling across all mediums in our industry is of absolute benefit for my Extreme characters. He is an absolute comic book fanatic and working with him on adapting Extreme Universe has been electric. His stellar work on Star Trek Discovery has wowed the fandom and trust me when I say that the Teen Titans show he is producing is going to blow fans away. I cannot wait to show the world what we have in store.”

In January it had been announced that Extreme Universe would be developed for the silver screen by Fundamental Films and Graham King. Energy Entertainment’s Brooklyn Weaver, Akiva Goldsman, and Liefeld were also involved.

The deal involves many Liefeld’s Image Comics creations like Brigade, Cybrid, Bloodstrike, Re-Gex, Lethal, Battlestone, Baboom, Bloodwulf, and Nitro-Gen. This deal with Liefeld is very similar to the one that was struck for Millarworld.
