A few months ago when the trailer of Avengers: Infinity War was released, a few eagle-eyed fans had said that Steve Rogers was wearing the new gauntlets which will be his shields. This was then confirmed as the claw shields, and this is in courtesy of T’Challa’s sister Shuri. Actor, Chadwick Boseman has now revealed that the weapons hold a lot of significance:
“They trust each other,” Boseman had said. He was referring to the Steve and T’Challa leaving their past feud in Captain America: Civil War. The actor when into detail about the meaning of the gauntlets which are used by Captain America as a replacement for his original shield that he returned to Iron Man in Civil War.
“His shield was already made from Vibranium anyway. So it’s just an extension of what he already had. This time, actually giving it to him, as opposed to…” Boseman further explained and hinted that the alloy used by Howard Stark to make this shield during World War II had been stolen by S.H.I.E.L.D.
Ryan Coogler’s latest movie, Black Panther had revealed that villains like Ulysses Klaue had smuggled Vibranium from the African nation and there is no reason that S.H.I.E.L.D. could not have gotten their hand on this metal.
“Me actually giving it to him is a testament to our relationship and trust,” Boseman then added. This shows that the King of Wakanda has now realized that Rogers and the Avengers are trustworthy and his new shield represents the “bridge” that T’Challa had said of building with the world in the Black Panther movie.
