Here’s Why Tom Cruise Will Make The Best Green Lantern

Rumour has it that Tom Cruise might play Hal Jordan for DC’s Green Lantern movie. WB is looking to cast the Mission: Impossible star.

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense for DC Films and Green Lantern Hal Jordan. Not just on the set of such the blockbuster but behind the scenes, giving it the best chance at becoming a hit.

TOM CRUISE MAY ACTUALLY BE INTERESTED IN GREEN LANTERN

When the reports first surfaced, Tom Cruise was shortlisted along with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role. But with Reynolds working on the  Deadpool sequels Cruise, was a better bet being one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Now the report is that the studio is also keen on getting Christopher McQuarrie to direct Green Lantern Corps. Keep in mind, the shortlist which namedropped Tom Cruise for Green Lantern Corps indicate he’s not yet currently involved or in talks. This does help sketch out a possibility that the project may be moving forward.

TOM CRUISE & CHRIS MCQUARRIE MAY BE A PACKAGE DEAL

McQuarrie is one of Cruise’s preferred collaborators as both of them have worked together in the past on several hit flicks like Valkyrie, Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow, Rogue Nation, The Mummy, and the upcoming Mission: Impossible. Given McQuarrie and Cruise’s working relationship, seeing their names out up for the same project isn’t surprising.

If  McQuarrie were to write, direct, and produce things would change considerably. And  Warner Bros. wouldn’t be willing to give up such creative freedom. Then again, WB is more than willing to collaborate with proven creators.

Whether this will be enough for Cruise to take on the role is left to be seen

TOM CRUISE IS PERFECT FOR A ‘VETERAN’ HAL JORDAN

There will be plenty of comic book fans who will rebuff the idea of Tom Cruise as the Green Lantern just as many scoffed at Ben Affleck being cast as Batman. Tom Cruise will have an uphill battle to turn Green Lantern into a serious contender. Tom has to do justice by playing a likable, charming and  classical hero

However, the role of  Hal Jordan could also capitalize on Cruise’s talent.

Green Lantern Corps will also co-star Hal Jordan, and John Stewart and DC is looking for a star around the age of 50 for Hal Jordan .

If the studio wants something new and fresh in the DC movies, there’s no reason why Tom Cruise should not have some fun. If a director like McQuarrie actually does take the job, an actor of Cruise’s caliber would be a bonus.
