The New Ready Player One Posters Will Remind You Of A Few Classic Movies

Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One has released posters with a lot of references to classic movies. Spielberg’s latest flick is based on a script by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline.

The film takes place in the year 2045 and follows teenager Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) as he attempts to complete Anorak’s Quest in a virtual reality game called the OASIS, that allows people to escape their realities. Whoever completes the quest and finds the Easter Egg inherits Halliday’s fortune and has full ownership of the OASIS.

Ready Player One was originally scheduled to release in December 2017 but was postponed to March 2018 to avoid clashing with Star Wars: The Last Jedi release. While a new trailer and a few promos have been released in 2017, the studio has now released around a dozen new posters.

Eleven new posters for Ready Player One were released on the side of street walls in Santa Monica that pay homage to classic movies such as The Matrix (1999), The Goonies (1985), The Lost Boys (1987), The Iron Giant (1999), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Risky Business (1983), Back to the Future (1985), Blade Runner (1982), Bullitt (1968), The Breakfast Club (1985), and Beetlejuice (1988).

Warner Bros will release the hi-resolution images of the posters online soon.

Ready Player One is gearing up to be one of the most nostalgic-driven films in history. The story also follows a rebel group trying to overthrow an evil corporation. Since Ready Player One is supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the book, it is also partly an original story. It will be interesting to see how the movie comes out.
