No, Thanos Is Not The Main Villain For Avengers 4

Iron Man first came out in 2008. Since then there have been 18 movies in the last 10 years, and now the MCU is finally approaching the culmination of everything that has happened till now. Marvel Studios has assembled the finest cast all under one movie to create the most mega comic-book event as a part of phase 3. The Avengers Infinity war films are the most anticipated superhero ensemble films of the 21st century. And Fans are eagerly waiting to watch the grand finale called Infinity War.

Marvel Cinematic universe will see over 70 comic-book superheroes appearing in Avengers Infinity War movies. There will be a tight squeeze for screen time and space.

The Russo Brothers clarified that the final two movies in phase 3 are independent movies without any major concerns. The first one is based on the Avengers while the second one is entirely based on Thanos storyline.

The studio decided to finally name the third movie as “Avengers Infinity War” after trying to decide from many comic-books related to the Infinity war storyline such as Thanos Quest, Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, Infinity Crusade, etc. The fourth movie is still untitled.

In Avengers 3, Thanos is in pursuit of all the infinity gems to create an all-powerful Infinity gauntlet to cause a worldwide apocalypse, and then in Avengers 4, the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy join forces and fight him.

Till now, we’ve only heard of or caught glimpses of Thanos in the post-credits of Phase 2, 3 films, but Infinity war will be his first major appearance where he is the central antagonist pursuing his sinister ends.

Actor Josh Brolin is excited to play the super-villain, Thanos. He shared a picture on his Instagram account showing his transformation into the most powerful cosmic villain in the galaxy and also teased the massive powers of Infinity gems, each of them individually is powerful but when all collected can destroy worlds.

Josh Brolin previously said in an interview that he probably would not have all the Infinity stones in Avengers Infinity War. This triggered speculations whether Thanos’ quest to collect all the gems would be stretched across two films. He said:

“I haven’t done the second movie, so I don’t know. I literally don’t know what the second script is. I don’t know if they’ve finished the second script, and that’s the truth. I think they’re in the midst of structuring and restructuring.”

He added that Thanos would also use psychological tactics and brute force. He also revealed important details of the character and his experience playing him saying:

“I love doing Avengers; it’s maybe the most fun I’ve ever had. I just saw a little snippet of it, and it was amazing. The cutting-edge technology of what they’re doing, what I’ve seen is absolutely mind-blowing. When I saw it on screen, it was me, but also not like me. It’s really strange.”

He said that the effects were top notch and fans haven’t seen the likes of.

The Black Order of Thanos  who were introduced as “children of Thanos” who were brought together by Thanos to serve and  follow the orders of Thanos and destroyed many worlds for him until they find out that Infinity Stones are with kept with a secret society/group called the Illuminati with members like Iron Man, Black Panther, etc. who are charged with keeping the Infinity gems safe.

Kevin Feige was recently asked about the title for Avengers 4 and said that it’s a huge spoiler and will be revealed at the right time. The rumor was that the title of the fourth movie is Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet, but it was soon dismissed by James Gunn.

Infinity war writer Stephen McFeely revealed:

Thanos’ goal is to rebalance the universe as he sees it. So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him in the snap of a finger, which becomes his main goal.”

In the comics, Thanos is obsessed with death and seeks the unlimited power of the Infinity Gauntlet to catch Death’s eye. He uses it to destroy half the life in the universe. In the MCU version the idea of ‘balance’ is the balance between living and dead.

The Celestials are cosmic creatures who are one of the oldest, most powerful entities in Marvel universe. They are also known as “space gods” who have limitless powers powered by living light. They use this light to manipulate matter.

They were assumed to be extinct, but it is possible that Thanos is working for the Celestials.

Here’s the official synopsis of the movie:

“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.

Marvel Studios has been building up the hype surrounding  Thanos over many movies, so expectations for the film are very high, with some even believing that the movie will break every box office record known for any superhero movie.
