Mark Hamill Wants This Kid To Play Young Luke Skywalker In Future Star Wars Stories

Recently, Mark Hamill revealed during an interview about who his choice would be to play a younger version of Luke Skywalker. The iconic Star Wars star was a few days back felicitated with a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, in an event which saw Harrison Ford and George Lucas. Hamill was recently seen in what might have been the last Luke Skywalker portrayal in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, therefore, the buzz is already gaining traction about who might succeed him and play a young Luke.

Next up from Star Wars franchise will be Solo: A Star Wars Story, however, a section of fans are already wondering about the actor who would play a young Luke Skywalker in future. Mark Hamill shared his thoughts and said that he knows who he wishes to step into his shoes. Although a number of fans have said that Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier from MCU) resembles young Hamil, the iconic actor has another option to play an even younger Luke. He said:

“It depends on what point in Luke’s life that you would have him be in the movie. Because at first, I’m thinking … the whole point of Luke was that he was bored silly with his life. All he was doing was bullseyeingwamp rats in his T-16. Now, if they could do now where they have five or six plots, and you’re cutting around what’s going on all around him, and they keep cutting back to a really young Luke, I thought, The one I love is Jacob Tremblay.”

Jacob Tremblay starred in The Book of Henry, directed by Colin Trevorrow, who was earlier supposed to write and helm Star Wars 9. Despite the critical slamming and box-office failure of the movie, Tremblay was highly appreciated. His next cinematic appearance will be in Shane Black’s film The Predator which will release in September this year. Jacob Tremblay was delighted to meet Mark Hamill on the red carpet for The Book of Henry, and he certainly looks to be the right choice to play a young Luke.

A number of long-term Star Warsfans were aghast at Rian Johnson’s portrayal of an old and cranky Luke Skywalker. However, it turned out to be probably the finest and might even be the best of his career. Now some time has gone by, and fans fury has abated. They have begun to flock back to The Last Jedi, and once the movie releases on Blu-ray at the end of the month, there will be many more viewers for The Last Jedi.

It is not easy to step into Mark Hamill’s shoes, especially for a youngster to play Luke Skywalker. On the other hand, playing a young Han Solo was much easier, because his character’s origin story wasn’t revealed and he was first seen only in A New Hope. Luke’s detailed story has been displayed during the original trilogy. Therefore, we are more likely to see someone like Sebastian Stan play the character set in the period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
