Born as Jamie Annette Dantzscher on May 2, 1982 in Canoga Park, California, she is an American former artistic gymnast. Dantzscher was raised in San Dimas, California and she graduated from San Dimas High School. She trained at Charter Oak Gliders in Covina under Beth Kline Rybacki and Steve Rybacki.

Dantzscher was a member of the US national gymnastics team for eight years starting from 1994. During her international debut at the 1996 City of Popes competition in France, she won the all-around and floor exercise titles. She participated in her first senior U.S. Nationals in 1997, where she finished sixth in the all-around. Her placement was good enough to make her a member of the U.S. squad for the 1997 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, but, since she was only 15, she was too young to meet the recently raised minimum age requirement by the International Federation of Gymnastics. She later competed at the 1999 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tianjin, where she was placed at number six with the American team. In the year 2000, Dantzscher won her first national all-around medal, a bronze. She was placed fifth at the Olympic Trials, thus, getting a place on the U.S. team for the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. Dantzscher fell on the floor while exercising during the team preliminaries in Sydney, but, competed well in the team finals. She scored 9.429 on vault, 9.700 on the uneven bars and 9.712 on floor. The US team at that time finished fourth, behind Romania, Russia and China. However, on April 28, 2010, Dantzsher and the other women on the 2000 United States Olympic team were awarded with the bronze medal in the team competition after it was found that the Chinese team had lied about the age of one of its gymnasts, Dong Fangxiao. Dantzscher was one of the most visibly outspoken members of the U.S. Olympic team in the media because she criticized the policies of the national team coordinator, Bela Karolyi, whom she referred to as a “puppeteer.”

On March 29, 2017, Dantzscher was among a number of former gymnasts who testified before the Congress about the sexual abuse they suffered from the USA Gymnastics national team doctor, Larry Nassar. She suggested that she had been abused “all over the world,” and she had believed that she was the only one.
