The DCEU has absolutely nailed its casting choices with Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and many others like Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s Flash. But if things would have gone a little differently in DC movies had the casting been done in another direction.

10. Matthew Goode as Superman

When the DCEU kicked off with Snyder’s Man of Steel in 2013, Matthew Goode was supposed to play Clark Kent instead of Henry Cavill. Goode had worked with Snyder in Watchmen (2009) as the villain Ozymandias. Casting Cavill as Kal El was the best choice they made.

9. Ryan Gosling as The Joker

If fate had its way, it wouldn’t even have been Leto playing the Joker. Ryan Gosling was rumored to play the Joker. But as his acting style is vastly different to play something this intense, Leto’s performance as The Joker was far better.

8. Adam Driver as Nightwing

The Kylo Ren actor was rumored to have been offered the role of  Nightwing in the DCEU. Dick Grayson was the first Robin under Batman’s tutelage. Before Gadot, it was Yung who was rumored to play the Amazonian Princess. Elodie is well known as Elektra of Netflix’s Daredevil TV Series. Although Elodie Yung is a gifted actor, Gal was much better suited to play the iconic super-heroine of the DC Universe.

6. Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor

Bryan Cranston was supposed to be cast as Lex Luthor in Dawn of Justice once Breaking Bad ended. It sounded like the perfect role except that Cranston was too old to play Lex Luthor to Henry Cavil’s youthful Superman.

5. Grant Gustin as DCEU Flash

Grant Gustin is famous for playing Flash in the T.V. series. Hence it was expected that he would be reprising his role again in the DCEU Justice League movie. However, some fans were against casting Gustin as the Flash in the movie, instead of Ezra Miller. Luckily that did not happen as it would have also been confusing to see Gustin play the Flash in both the DCEU and the Arrowverse.

4. Alexandra Daddario as Wonder Woman

Of all the many actresses who would have played Wonder Woman, Daddario would not have been the right one. Casting a white American actress to play as Wonder Woman would have sent the wrong message Her accent and her pretty face would make Wonder Woman common. Wonder Woman is a symbol of Womanhood and its beauty throughout the world.

3. Chris Pine as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern

At one point, Chris Pine was expected to play DC superhero Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern. But as the dust settled n, Chris Pine confirmed his role as Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in the movie Wonder Woman. It was the better choice.

2. Eva Green as Circe

Eva Green was rumored to play Circe in Wonder Woman. Circe is a sorceress in Greek mythology with the power to turn her enemies into animals. While that would have made an interesting plot element in the movie, Green couldn’t have done justice to the role.
