Tom Holland Just Teased A Very Popular Video Game Movie

Tom Holland of Spider-Man: Homecoming recently hinted at his next big role in the video game based movie Unchartered.

In the now deleted Instagram post, the 21-year-old actor posted a short video clip of the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection video game title screen with the caption, “For research purposes.” This could be a reference to his being linked to the Sony-produced adaptation of the video game franchise.

The Unchartered video game which is a mix of Indiana Jones and is a cousin to Tomb Raider was developed by Naughty Dog and is published by Sony Computer Entertainment America. The fourth installment of the video game, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, was released in May. The popular video game has been discussed being made into a movie for more than a year with Holland attached to the project earlier this year. It seemed that the film would be based on the third installment in the game, where the hero, Nathan Drake, is still a young man. The film intended to begin Drake’s story in his youth and explain how he met the franchise’s villain, Sullivan, and grow in future sequels alongside Holland as the actor aged.

However there hasn’t been much progress since May, but with Holland deleting his Instagram post regarding the film, it could be a sign that work on the film is about to begin.

It also wouldn’t be the first time a studio had to stop Holland posting on his social accounts. At Marvel, he was only allowed to read his dialogues in the Infinity War script pages because producers worried he would leak details to the press or on social media.

In addition to Uncharted and Avengers:  Infinity War, he will appear in two more Marvel films, including the untitled Avengers 4 and a Spider-Man sequel in 2019. He will also star in the sci-fi thriller Chaos Walking with Daisy Ridley. The movie, based on Patrick Ness’s novel, is directed by Doug Liman.
