The 1986 Highlander Movie Is Getting An Epic Reboot

Lionsgate’s reboot of its 1986 film is now entering the pre-production stage. Deadline has reported that the studio is “extremely pleased” with its new script from Ryan Condal and they are planning to start the pre-production by this year after Chad Stahelski finishes the work on the third John Wick.

Lionsgate’s Patrick Wachsberger had also said that the screenplay will set up a potential for a  sequel. The reboot spent many years in the development stage after Summit Entertainment had acquired its rights by 2008. The 1986 movie had starred Christopher Lambert, Clancy Brown, Roxanne Hart, and Sean Connery. This was a story about Scottish warrior who was immortal and can be killed only by decapitation. This movie was a success at the box office, but it had become a cult classic and spawned 5 live-action spinoffs and sequels.

The Highlander reboot will release in 2019.
