New Casting Call Indicates ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming Searching For Two New Characters

Avengers: Infinity War has been dominating the Marvel Studios schedule, but, it is not going to put the studio off track. All other behind the scenes wheels are turning nicely and the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is being developed at the right pace. According to a new report, a casting call has provided some details about who is going to be the big bad of the film.

It wasn’t long time back when reports had done rounds about the sequel going to cast a great looking female character, but, that brief wasn’t for the main villain. As of now, there has been no information related to the villains who would cause mayhem in the Spider-Man’s world. However, That Hashtag Show is claiming that the villain might be a foreigner and either male or female.

According to That Hashtag Show’s source, Marvel Studios has tasked casting director Sarah Finn to finalize actors for two important roles in the movie. The first role will be a villain with “elevated ideas.”

“In an interesting twist, not only has the studio not pinned down the ethnicity of the villain, but they’re also open to auditioning male and female leads, ages 30-45, for the part,” the report says.

The film is expected to be shot internationally, has a wide range of bad guys to choose from. Earlier, the movie’s director Jon Watts said that in his opinion the lesser known Spider-Man villains are better suited to MCU compared to big villains such as the Green Goblin. The casting brief given in the report makes it difficult to identify any particular name because it is not at all unusual to cast a middle-aged villain. The fact that they are flexible on gender also is not helping, because there are fans who might be wishing for KravenThe Hunter.

Whereas the other role that they aim to fill is at par with the Tom Holland’s character Peter Parker. Reports state that they are casting a high school student, and the ideal candidate is an “18-24-year-old male lead of any ethnicity” to play the role. This character might be confined to this sequel only. However, the actor has to have “leading qualities” because he will be performing opposite Holland. You can’t be sure whether there is a relation between the two new characters, but, one thing is certain that fans are already working on theories linking them together.

Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is presently untitled, and we might see the web-slinger heading back to Germany. There will also be additional shoots in New York, Atlanta, and the UK. Tom Holland will be back to play Peter Parker in Avengers: Infinity War, releasing on April 27, and Avengers 4, scheduled to release on May 3, next year, after which Spider-Man: 2 will jump into the theaters on July 5, 2019.
