Milla Jovovich Expresses Interest To Play A Prime Role In ThunderCats Movie

The newest trend seen in Hollywood seems to be making live action movies based on popular cartoons from the 1980s. This has included Transformers, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Smurfs.  Now with a new He-Man film in the works, it is quite possible a ThunderCats movie is now on the cards.

ThunderCats fans have been hoping for a live action movie to come out for some time and it seems now Milla Jovovich has expressed interest in playing a role in the movie, should it happen in the future.

In an interview with WGTC (via We Got This Covered), the Resident Evil star said she has always loved ThunderCats and would love to portray Cheetara if they were making a movie. A few years ago James McAvoy said he would like to play Lion-O, should a ThunderCats movie come to life.

ThunderCats was an animated series that ran from 1986 to 1989, with a total of 130 episodes. The story follows a group of cat-aliens who are stranded on a planet called Third Earth after being exiled from their home planet Thundera. They become the defenders of the planet against the evil Mumm-Ra and his gang of mutants.

There was a CGI version of Thundercats scheduled to be made a few years ago, but the project never got the go ahead and was scrapped. Most recently, in 2016 Michael Bay wanted to produce a live-action version, but nothing has been heard about it since.

The ThunderCats cartoon had one rebooted season on Cartoon Network in 2011. A revival on Netflix has been petitioned by fans.
