Marvel Introduced Its First Female Captain America

Marvel has recently announced a new Exiles comic book series by Saladin Ahmed and Javier Rodriguez that is set to hit shelves in April. This new series will feature Agent Peggy Carter, who in an alternate universe is Captain America.

In the story, Peggy Carter or Captain Carter, will take on Red Skull who rules with an apocalyptic fist. She along with Blink and her team of Exiles join in the fight for freedom. The solicits confirmed that Captain Carter is the same character in the Marvel Puzzle Quest game in 2016, so this is a continuation of her origin story.

A promo video released shows us that, in this alternate universe, Steve Rogers tragically died in World War II, and Peggy Carter has taken on the shield.

Agent Carter has been an important character in the Captain America’s comic book universe for many years, but the character was relatively unknown until she was played by actress Hayley Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger. Carter became an instant hit with fans and would go on to have her solo television series, Marvel’s Agent Carter, along with further appearances in Captain America: The Winter Solider and Ant-Man.

Agent Carter has become a source of inspiration for women empowerment. Fans will be delighted to see her in a new, super hero form in Exiles. Whether it is a regular or guest appearance, this is something to be discovered when the series comes out.
