Justice League 2 And Cyborg Movie Are In Danger

It has just been learned that plans for Justice League 2 have been postponed.

Ray Fisher who played Cyborg in Justice League has been cast as a series regular in HBO’s True Detective. Since Ray will be working on the series for most of the year, he won’t have time for a Cyborg solo movie or Justice League 2.

EW.com reported that Fisher was cast in True Detective. It was also noted that his character Cyborg wasn’t a big hit in Justice League, so it is unclear if a Cyborg movie is even going to happen, although “there was also supposed to be a Justice League 2 coming in 2019 in which Cyborg would have in theory appeared, but that’s been pushed back.”

J.K. Simmons, the DCEU Commissioner Gordon said that Justice League 2 was in development.

“But this is the first Justice League movie – we hope – of a few. They’re working on scripts for The Batman and for the next Justice League movie,” Simmons said back last October.

Another reason why Justice League 2 has been pushed back is that it didn’t break box office records as expected and only made $656 million worldwide. This was because director Zack Snyder stepped down due to a family emergency, with Warner Bros. and Joss Whedon redoing the entire movie leading to the lackluster theatrical version according to reports. A new report claims that Zack Snyder was fired from DCEU.

In addition to this, there is no confirmation on whether Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Batman, as Affleck has also stepped down from directing the upcoming Batman solo movie. Matt Reeves has apparently met with multiple actors about playing the new Batman.

With  DC movies coming under new management it’s possible that whatever plans were made may have been changed.

Even though Justice League 2 may not be moving forward, that doesn’t mean that other DC movies are not underway.

James Wan’s Aquaman starring Jason Momoa is set to be released this December.

Following the massive success of Wonder Woman, a sequel is releasing on November 1, 2019. Both director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot are returning.

WB and New Line Cinema are currently filming Shazam! Starring Zachary Levi and Dwayne Johnson for April 5, 2019, release. Johnson is set to play Black Adam for the DCEU.

The Kitchen, which is based on the DC Comics Vertigo comic book of the same name and set to star Melissa McCarthy is also in the works.

Suicide Squad 2 is also in development, with producer Michael DeLuca on board.

A Nightwing movie is also being planned with director Chris McKay, and Michael Bay is in talks for a Lobo movie.

A spin-off Harley Quinn and Joker movie starring Margot Robbie and Jared Leto is also said to be in development.
