Captain Planet Movie Seems To Be Back In Action

Many studios have been trying their hand at a Captain Planet movie. Warner Bros had scrapped this project last decade, and after that, Sony had tried to adapt this character three years ago, but since then we have not got much news. Paramount now seems to be taking charge of bringing our hero onto the big screen.

Paramount is now partnering with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions and will try and make a Captain Planet film. If they do secure all rights to the 1990s animated series, they will eye Jono Matt and Glen Powell for penning its script, but we do not have much information regarding the latter starring in this movie. The report had included a synopsis from the sources. Matt and Powell’s Captain Planet film will pick up after the original TV show, and the protagonist would be a “washed-up has-been” who needs the children more than they actually need him.

Leonardo DiCaprio is involved with the movie, and this does sound kind of weird, but it makes sense given his environmental activism. This attempt may turn out to be much better than the previous ones.

The original Captain Planet and the Planeteers animated series had aired from 1990 to 1992 and its sequel, The New Adventures of Captain Planet, ran from 1993 to 1996.

Gaia, the spirit of Earth had sent 5 rings to 5 children across the globe, and this channeled the powers of fire, earth, wind, water, and heart. These rings are super powerful, and the children could combine the powers of the rings and summon Captain Planet.
