Avengers Infinity War Is The Longest Movie In MCU, Run-Time Confirmed

Avengers: Infinity War is headed our way in less than two months, and the film will showcase the maximum number of MCU heroes coming together in a single film ever. Needless to say, it is going to be the grandest and the longest film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe till date. As shared on AMC theatres’ website, the Avengers: Infinity War has a runtime of 2 hours and 36 minutes.

It goes without saying that the crux of nearly 20 movies would be a film of gigantic proportions, replacing Captain America: Civil War (2 hours and 27 minutes) from the top spot. Earlier it was reported that Avengers: Infinity War will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long. However, those were mere speculations. The movie’s length is not really surprising, but, fans were certainly shocked last week when the film’s release was advanced by a week. Now it is releasing on April 27th instead of the earlier release date of May 4th.

Marvel Studios plans long-term, and it is not usual for them to make such changes, and they release films on dates that are at times announced three years in advance. One of the theories about this change is that Disney was wary of Deadpool 2 releasing just two weeks after Avengers: Infinity War, which might have caused some strong competition to the Marvel film. Courtesy the rescheduling, now Avengers: Infinity War has three exclusive weekends to rule the box office before the arrival of Deadpool 2.

The other possibility is the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which hits the theaters on May 25th. By creating a wider gap between these two films, Disney is counting on having bonafide hits in April as well as May instead of having two hits in the same month.

Apart from an early release, Avengers: Infinity War will also have a simultaneous global release. Of late, there has been a trend at Marvel Studios to release the movie a few days earlier in the international markets before opening in the domestic market. The stated objective of this move was to tackle piracy, but, the statistics given to prove this logic are ambiguous, to say the least.

By releasing the film all over the world simultaneously, Marvel can command attention from viewers all over planet Earth, to drive home the fact that the Avengers are Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and not only America’s Mightiest Heroes.

You will be able to enjoy the entire 2 hours and 36 minutes of Avengers: Infinity War on April 27th.

Black Panther is still going strong in theaters. Other future MCU releases are Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6th, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, Avengers 4 on May 3, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
