This Horrifying Line From ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ Comics Sets The Tone In Avengers: Infinity War Trailer

The wait for Avengers: Infinity War trailer is over, and it has made a frightening reference to the Infinity Gauntlet comics.

“The entire time I knew him, he only ever had one goal,” Gamora says. “To wipe out half the universe.” This dialog is a part of how she is explaining Thanos’ to Tony Stark. However, what she says next, is a direct lift from the Infinity Gauntlet comic books which serve as the source for this mega movie. “If he gets all the Infinity Stones, he can do it with the snap of his fingers.”

The Infinity Gauntlet comic book showed Thanos put together the Infinity Gauntlet and proceeds to do exactly what Gamora said. A quick finger snap and half of the Universe is done and dusted. He did all that only to impress his love, Lady Death. Thanos’ life is extremely conflicted; he is always trying to impress his lover, but, somehow he never manages to kill enough to win her love truly.

However, the Hulk star Mark Ruffalo assures us that Avengers: Infinity War will get its own separate treatment compared to the comic books it is based on “It’s so different from the comic books,” Ruffalo said. “There’s elements that are clearly the same but when you really start to get into the story everything changes. Planet Hulk was a big influence for [Thor: Ragnarok], and the idea, the inkling of World War Hulk starts to… I read that way before doing this, and there’s some interesting stuff in there, but honestly nothing so far directly related to this.”

Now that Avengers: Infinity War is highlighting this dialog, we might see the movie end with a nasty finger snap from the Mad Titan, compelling the audience to remain on edge for Avengers 4.

The 1991’s Infinity Gauntlet was a six-part series written by Jim Starlin, who also created the character of Thanos. It has been reprinted later, in a bid to make the story available for those fans who wish to prepare for Avengers: Infinity War by reading it.

Avengers: Infinity War releases on April 27th. Tickets can be purchased now.
