Born as Christie Lee Hudson on February 2, 1954, she is an American model, actress and businesswoman. She was born in Monroe, Michigan and her family moved to Canoga Park, Los Angeles where her mother Marjorie later met and married the television writer Donald Brinkley in Bel Air, Los Angeles. David adopted Christie and her brother Greg. At the time, the family lived in Malibu, and then in the Brentwood neighbourhoods of Los Angeles. She went back to California and soon she landed with three national ad campaigns.

She became famous internationally after appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues in late 1970s. She eventually featured on three consecutive covers starting in 1979. She was the face of CoverGirl for twenty five years, and has been featured on more than 500 magazine covers besides having worked for major brands – both fashion and non-fashion.

Brinkley further worked as an actress, illustrator, TV personality, photographer, writer, designer and a human and animal rights activist.

Brinkley married four times, and her most notable marriage was between 1985-1994 with musician Billy Joel for whom she appeared in a number of music videos. Her career spanned over three decades and she has been named as one of the most attractive women of all time by magazines like Allure and Men’s Health. Her financial worth in 2018 were an estimated US $250 million, majorly as the owner of several companies and real estate.

She was reported to be in a relationship with John Mellencamp in September 2015, but, in August 2016, they announced that they had separated after nearly a year of dating.
