Born as Edith Norma Shearer on August 11, 1902, she was a Canadian American actress and Hollywood icon from 1925 until 1942. Shearer had Scottish and Irish origins. She had spent her early years in Montreal where she attended the Montreal High School for Girls and Westmount High School.
