Born as Leandra Medine Cohen on December 22, 1988, she is an American author, blogger, and humor writer who is best known for Man Repeller, an independent fashion and lifestyle website. She was born in Manhattan. Her father Mois Medine has Turkish-Jewish origins and her mother Lyora “Laura” Medine has Iranian-Jewish origins. She was raised in an Orthodox Jewish household. Medine studied at the Ramaz School in Manhattan. She received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the New School’s Eugene Lang College in May 2011. Medine first started online writing in 2009 while she was a student at the New School. After she studied abroad in Paris, Medine started a blog titled Four Months in Paris using the shared hosting service Blogger. She later renamed it to Boogers and Bagels. The blog was mainly about fashion trends, humor, personal stories, and feminist issues, its last post was published on April 19, 2010, soon after the launch of Medine’s second and more famous blog titled The Man Repeller.
