Born as Deidre Ann Hall on October 31, 1947, she is an American actress famous for her portrayal of Dr. Marlena Evans on NBC’s daytime-drama Days of Our Lives, a role that she has played for over 40 years. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Lake Worth, Florida. She was 12-years- old when Hall was elected Junior Orange Bowl Queen. She graduated from the Lake Worth High School, class of 1965, and studied psychology before venturing into acting. During her late teens, Hall travelled to Los Angeles for

the summer, alongside attending the Palm Beach Junior College, and there she managed to get some modelling jobs and commercials via an agent. Soon she started appearing in TV shows, believing it was temporary until she landed a serious career as a psychologist.

Hall appeared on various shows, such as Emergency! (played Nurse Sally Lewis in the initial two seasons), and The Young and the Restless (where she played Barbara Anderson). She then joined Days of Our Lives in 1976 as Dr. Marlena Evans. In 1986, Hall started playing Jesse Witherspoon on the family drama, Our House, which had a two season run on NBC. Hall left Days of Our Lives in 1987 when she found it very difficult to juggle between her prime time and daytime schedules. Our House got cancelled in 1988, although, she

didn’t quickly return to the soap opera.

Until March 1991, Hall kept making guest appearances on various prime time shows, and that’s when she returned to Days of Our Lives. According to the actress, she was approached to play a new character, but, she declined and emphasized on playing Marlena, for a six months contract only. The makers were wary of succumbing to her demands as they were afraid that the fans would exit after six months if she left. However, Hall stayed on contract with the show for another eighteen years, until January 24, 2009. She was then terminated due to budgetary issues. She used to be paid $60,000 per month which was much higher than what most other daytime serial actors. In 1995, Hall produced and starred in Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall Story, which was a made-for-television film related to her personal struggles with motherhood. Her Longtime Days co-star Suzanne Rogers is also featured in the program.

Since the early 2009, Hall has occasionally been the guest-host on Clout, a talk radio program syndicated by Air America Media. In the year 2014, Deidre Hall received her star on the Walk of Fame.

She has been married four times. Her first marriage was with William Hudson (May 6, 1966 – 1970, second marriage with Keith Barbour (1972-1977), third marriage with a producer and writer, Michael Dubelko (1987-1989) and her fourth marriage was with Steve Sohmer (December 31, 1991 – 2006). In between her marriages to Barbour and Dubelko, she also dated Louisiana State Senator Ned Randolph in the early 1980s.
