Born as Daria Vladimirovna Strokous on September 25, 1990 in Moscow, Russia (back then a part of the former Soviet Union), she is a Russian supermodel, film actress and photographer. Her parents are Vladimir and Olga Strokous. Soon after her birth, she and her family moved to Benin, Africa where she was raised and educated until the age of five.
She made her modelling debut in September 2007 at the Fashion Week in Milan and Paris. Her debut was exclusive for the Prada show in Milan. She was featured on the V Magazine’s Top 10 Models for 2008. The magazine New York named her among the Top 10 Models to watch, and also Today’s Top Model in Milan. Strokous has been featured on the covers of Vogue Italia, Numero, Vogue Japan, Vogue Russia, and also in the pages of W Magazine, Vogue UK, Vogue Deutsch, American Vogue, V Magazine and various other famous publications. She was featured in Style.com for various top designers and Models.com in featured articles. Strokous participated in a project for a new online magazine Nomenus Quarterly for a new collection of “THE ROW” fashion line. She has done campaigns for brands like Dior, Prada, Chanel, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Jil Sander, Carolina Herrera, D&G, Alberta Ferretti, H&M, Juicy Couture and others. She played a minor role in the film Contagion (2011) and also appeared as a lead model in a short film for Dior “Secret Garden – Versailles” made by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
In the year 2013, Strokous was chosen for two of Dior’s campaigns, a Spring 2013 collection and another for the Fall 2013 collection. In the year 2014, strokous was included in the list of New Generation of Industry Icons by Models.com.
