Born as Karolina Myroslavivna Kuiek on 27 September, 1978, she is well-known as Ani Lorak and is a Ukrainian singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and former United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.

Consequently, she was 14, when she signed her first professional contract. Kuiek became famous as Ani Lorak in March 1995 after she participated in a contest at the TV program “Morning Star” in Moscow, Russia. There was another Russian singer who had the same name already in the competition and Kuiek was compelled to come up with a stage name. Ani Lorak is in fact, her name Karolina read backwards. Ani Lorak moved to Kiev, Ukraine in the year 1995. By then she had already become a known name in Ukrainian show business circles. She further became even more famous after she won the “Big Apple Music 1996 Competition” in New York City. She was called “Discovery of the Year” at the famous Ukrainian festival “Tavria Games” in the year 1996. In the same year, she came out with her first album “I Want To Fly.”

She has received the most reputed and honorary title of Ukraine, the People’s Artist of Ukraine.
