X-Men Writer Is Working On A New Star Wars Film

In spite of the fact that the Skywalker Saga will end next year with Episode IX, the franchise is nowhere near running out of gas. Deadline has reported that the X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg is now writing a script for a Star Wars movie. This is separate from the trilogy which in the works by Johnson and movies from D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.

Kinberg, executive producer of Star Wars Rebels, is shepherding the X-Men franchise and the animated series is not the only involvement with the galaxy far, far away. Kinberg had been set to produce a Boba Fett spinoff movie with Josh Trank. They had worked together on the Fantastic Four reboot, and this had a tumultuous production.  Stories of clashes may have led to his removal from the film.

We are yet to see if Kinberg is working on a Boba Fett movie and this was in development before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Kinberg had written X-Men: Dark Phoenix and this will mark his directorial debut. The 4th movie in the rebooted franchise will release in November.

While we all knew that Kinberg had been involved with a Star Wars film, Deadline has made it clear that he is now working on the script now.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will release on November 2nd.
