THIS ADORABLE ACT OF LAURA DERN SAYING ‘PEW’ AS SHE WIELDS A BLASTER IN THE LAST JEDI IS TOO CUTE

In case you are handed over a lightsaber or a blaster from Star Wars by someone, what are the odds of you making the right sound effect?

This was the question that Laura Dern had to deal with during the filming of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. She visited The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in August last year, and she revealed to him that she was extremely excited to be a part of the Star Wars, to the extent that she kept making “pew pew” sounds when her on-screen persona of Vice Admiral AmilynHoldo, swung a blaster to prevent Poe’s mutiny. In fact, she can be seen doing the same thing in the last cut of the film.

During his audio commentary related to Star Wars: Episode VIII, the movie’s director Rian Johnson indicated the sequence where you would be able to see Dern mutter “pew” while firing the blaster,  “which she could never not do every time she shot it.” Although, we can’t hear the sound, but, this is enough. Her reaction on getting a chance to fire the blaster is incredibly cute, and in our opinion, that makes Dern an even more fun human being. In fact, this is even better than the scene where she rubbed BB-8’s tummy.

Could there be anything that explains ‘adorable’ better?

What do you think? Had you been in Dern’s place on The Last Jedi set, won’t you be making such sounds to go with the blasters and the weapons?
