Russo Brothers: Avengers Infinity War Will Be Related To All The Earlier MCU Movies

It is difficult to believe that it has been ten years since we heard people wondering about the Iron-Man film and discussing whether it would be any good. A decade down the line, the MCU is set to converge all those earlier films and characters in a never before the finale to all that has been seen so far. The last two MCU films Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther have expanded their individual stories and created the platform for the mega movie. So now it is all about Avengers: Infinity War.

Joe and Anthony Russo have already helmed Captain America: Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. The brothers have meticulously planned for this scenario for the last many years. In Captain America: Civil War, they already managed a multi-hero team up event perfectly, therefore, the next stop Avengers: Infinity War is expected to be far more fantastic than the earlier one.

The Thor: Ragnarok home media release special features include a piece about the celebration of ten years of Marvel Studios wherein a large number of actors and movie makers from the last 18 films came together for an unprecedented class photo. This celebration also saw Joe Russo and Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios President) detail the links between all the stories and how it will all be depicted in Infinity War.

“Every story that Marvel has told since Iron Man 1 finds a narrative thread in these next two Avengers movies. It is a culmination of all that storytelling,” they said.

It is not a child’s play to converge storylines from 18 films, but, the Russo brothers and Kevin Feige apparently have everything under control.

With Infinity War, we are paying off every little thread, every little tease, that we’ve had in what will be 18 films prior to Infinity War. There’s never been anything like this. Being able to, film after film, tease at a larger story. Really building these stories up until a conclusion, while at the same time, introducing an entirely new direction for the future,” Joe Russo stated while talking about the ten years of buildup for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movie.

In our opinion, Russo’s reference to “new direction” might be about the new characters who have become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also those that will debut soon.

Avengers: Infinity War will be followed by Ant-Man and The Wasp, which is going to introduce Hope Van Dyne as Wasp. The other film in the works is Captain Marvel, which will be released in spring 2019. That film will be the MCU debut of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, a new female superhero who has so far not featured in the shared universe. Despite it being 18 movies old, the MCU  seems to be progressing and expanding rapidly.

You can check out more interviews with Kevin Feige, Joe and Anthony Russo, and various other MCU bigwigs, in “Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years – The Evolution of Heroes” featurette that is a part of the special features for Thor: Ragnarok’s home media. You have the option of digital download right away, and it will be out on Blu-ray and DVD on March 6.
