New Villain To Be Featured In Latest Dragon Ball Super Film

The 20th film from the Dragon Ball series was announced in last December’s Jump Festa 2018. It was stated that the upcoming movie’s story would be based on the Saiyans and how Goku’s power originated, but, now further details have come to light.

It has been confirmed that the upcoming movie will be the first Dragon Ball Super film which will take the story forward after the Tournament of Power. Dragon Ball fans are excited to know more about the bad guy of this film.

A Kazenshuu translation of a statement by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama mentioned that the movie would showcase a new  villain who was previously kept under wraps specifically for this:

The Dragon Ball Super movie this time will be the next story in the series currently airing on TV. It will be an episode after catching our breath from the climax of the Tournament of Power with the universe’s existence on the line; with content that will give a little better understanding about Freeza and the Saiyans, which I hadn’t properly depicted up till now; and leading to a mighty foe saved for the occasion, which I think has it shaping up to be a really enjoyable story.”

Therefore, the series is not only going to reflect upon the relationship shared by Freeza and the Saiyans before their death but, Toriyama is also coming up with a “mighty new foe” linked to both of them. Toriyama has also stated that he has kept this new villain in stock while he wanted to talk in detail about Freeza and the Saiyans. It makes us feel that the new villain must be connected to Goku’s past.

The villain could be another of Freeza’s family members, as seen in the earlier films, or it might be a fresh Saiyan enemy connected to Goku (again something that we have seen in the past). The thought about Toriyama having kept in reserve a new enemy is quite thrilling, and the fact that it might also be a flashback villain, makes it more interesting.

For the fans who are heartbroken about the series’ wrapping up after Episode 131, there seems to be some hope before the year ends when this Dragon Ball movie will release on December 14. The film is based on the Saiyans, the “origins of Goku’s power,” and probably the depiction of the very first Super Saiyan God. It is not only aiming to become the best Dragon Ball movie but, the original creator Akira Toriyama is also going to contribute to its script and design new characters.
