Flashpoint Film Is Finally Being Made By This Directorial Duo

It had a number of false starts and seemed to be a revolving door for the directors, but, now Flashpoint is officially on. The movie will be directed by Game Night makers Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley. Earlier it was believed that this duo also credited with writing Spider-Man: Homecoming had already joined the project. However, the fact is that they only had been talking about helming the DCEU’s Flashpoint film. This is fantastic news for DC fans who eagerly waited to see a Barry Allen film on the big screen for ages.

The announcement was made by John Francis Daley via social media where he shared a gif of The Flash sprinting up a wall with the caption, “It’s happening!” According to reports, Daley and Jonathan Goldstein had been talking to DC Films and WB since the start of 2018, however, neither side had confirmed anything. It was widely believed that they had joined the film, only due to their excitement. Recently, during an interview, John Francis Daley stated that they had been provided a list of prospective projects from WB and DC Films and they decided to select Flashpoint.

Ever since the mega success of Wonder Woman and the critical debacle of Justice League, DCEU has been constantly chopping and changing behind the scenes. When Flashpoint was announced, it was expected to be the film that would redefine the DCEU. But, a great deal of changes have been made ever since, and now WB and DC Films look set to create a separate banner which will go into action with the Joker origin solo film.

Flashpoint has quite a crazy narrative which might be tough to recreate on the big screen in a single film. Therefore, it might either launch a franchise or a trilogy that would impact the DCEU’s future. Barry Allen is required to travel back in time to save his mother from being murdered, and that ends in an entirely different universe devoid of the Justice League and where Bruce Wayne is dead, but, his parents are alive. Bruce’s father Thomas Wayne becomes Batman, and Martha Wayne later becomes the Joker. Wonder Woman is an enemy of Aquaman and Superman is a governmental stooge.

The latest news must excite DC fans who had spent a number of years waiting in the hope of seeing Barry Allen make the big screen debut. It remains to be seen what is being planned by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley for the Flashpoint film. As of now, the story is under development, and further details are bound to emerge soon. Since Daley has confirmed it, DC Films and WB will shortly announce it, and we might get a synopsis too. As of now, you can check out the announcement made by John Francis Daley on his Twitter account.
