Director Of Original Iron Man And Jungle Book Is Writing & Producing A New Star Wars Live Action Series





The Oscar-nominated producer/actor Jon Favreau has been announced by Lucasfilm as the writer and executive producer of a live-action Star Wars show for Disney’s upcoming streaming platform.

There are not many details available about the new series. However, Favreau is well accustomed to the Star Wars franchise. He had played a role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and he is also going to play a voice role in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told StarWars.com. “Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”

Favreau said, “If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”

Disney has a long history of working with Favreau which goes back to the MCU’s debut movie Iron-Man. Favreau later directed Iron-Man 2 and also was an executive producer for The Avengers. Favreau came back to Disney after Avengers with the Academy Award-winning project The Jungle Book. The celebrated director is presently busy with the live-action version of Disney’s The Lion King.
