Avengers: Infinity War Will Reveal How A Little Girl Became Thanos’ Daughter

There is not much information available about the initial days of the deadliest lady in the Guardians of the Galaxy’s universe: Gamora, apart from her being called Thanos’  daughter and the fact that she is Nebula’s sister. However, it will finally be revealed in Avengers: Infinity War as to how and why didThanos abduct a tiny Gamora.

The penultimate Avengers: Infinity War trailer starts with Gamora’s voiceover. “The entire time I knew him, he only had one goal,” she can be heard saying. “To wipe out half the universe. If he gets all the Infinity Stones, he can do it with a snap of his fingers,” she snaps her fingers while saying this to clearly highlight the danger. There are various other scenes featuring the Mad Titan, who stands victorious on his home planet called Titan. You can see him destroy the Tesseract with his bare hand and get into a tussle with Captain America.

However, there is a particular sequence which is remarkable, and it provides a flashback to the time when Thanos and apparently Chitauri from the 2012’s The Avengers, attack, and defeat Titan’s inhabitants. This is the first time, we get to see Thanos in his complete comic book armor, and reaching out to hold the green hand of a tiny redhead girl. The two walk away as the Chitauri stand as a wall keeping the residents subdued.

During an interview, Josh Brolin, who has lent his voice to Thanos in Infinity war, stated that the movie would show a much youthful Thanos, and it now appears that Gamora’s origin will also be shown along with the villain. Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios further remarked that Thanos’ intentions would be much nobler than the comic books.

“He’s from a planet called Titan that’s no longer inhabited because of things that he thought he could help prevent, and he was not allowed to do that,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “What he feared most happened, and the planet and everybody on it basically went extinct. He vowed not to let that happen again. He thinks he sees the universe going down the tubes. He thinks he sees life expanding outward unchecked. That will bring ruin, he believes, to the universe and to that life.”

While it is not shown in the trailer, we assume he picked up Nebula in the same way, and that’s how she became the ‘sister’ of Gamora. The technological upgrades to Nebula’s body were given by Thanos, compelling the sisters to battle for his own entertainment. Whenever Nebula lost (and that was always), Thanos used to punish her by removing one of her body parts.

Seeing Gamora as a tiny girl will be in extreme contrast to how we have seen her so far in the two Guardians of the Galaxy films, where she is easily one of the mightiest members of the team. It gives Thanos an appearance of a benevolent figure, a perspective which always does well for the villains as the fans start supporting them. Let’ hope Avengers: Infinity War will also reveal how Gamora and Nebula were driven away from Thanos, unlike his other ‘children’ who have stayed around to form ‘Black Order.
