Born as Vina Fay Wray on September 15 1907 (died on August 8, 2004), she was a Canadian-American actress renowned for starrng as Ann Darrow in 1933 film King Kong. She was born on a ranch near Cardston in the province of Alberta, Canada, to Mormon parents. Elvina Marguerite Jones, who hailed from Salt Lake City, Utah and Joseph Heber Wray, from Kingston upon Hull, England. She was a grand-daughter of Daniel Webster Jones Wray, but, was never a Mormon.

Her family went back to the USA, a few years after her birth and they relocated to Salt Lake City in 1912, and moved to Lark, Utah in 1914. In the year 1919, they returned to Salt lake City and then moved to Hollywood where Fay studied at the Hollywood High School. Her acting career spanned for almost sixty years, and Wray was renowned globally as an actress in the horror films. She had been called as among the first “Scream Queens.”

She was cast as one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars in the year 1926. She then landed a contract with Paramount Pictures as a teenager, where she featured in over a dozen feature films. After leaving Paramount, she had deals with various film companies, being cast in horror film roles, alongside other genres. She was seen in The Bowery (1933), and Viva Villa (1934), both of which featured Wallace Beery. She was best known for King Kong (1933). After King Kong became a hit, Wray appeared in a number of film and TV projects before retiring from acting in 1980.
