Born as Famke Beumer Janssen in Amstelveen, the Netherlands in the year 1964, she is a Dutch actress, director, screenwriter, and ex-fashion model. Femke has two sisters, director Antoinette Beumer and actress Marjolein Beumer, who changed their surnames after the divorce of their parents, but, Famke didn’t do so as she didn’t want “Beumer” as a surname impacting her career potential on an international level.

She played the role of Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye (1995, JeanGrey/Phoenix in the X-Men movies (2000-2014), Ava Moore on Nip/Tuck, and Lenore Mills in the Taken trilogy (2008-2014). In the year 2008, the United Nations appointed her as a Goodwill Ambassador for Integrity. She debuted as a director with Bringing Up Bobby (2011). She is also famous for playing a role in the Netflix original series Hemlock Grove and for ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder. Janssen played a starring role in the 2017 NBC crime thriller The Blacklist Redemption.

Janssen had been married to writer and director Kip Williams, son of architect Tod Williams from 1995 to 2000.
