Born as Kim Ah-Young on November 6, 1992 in Ulsan, South Korea, she is a South Korean singer and actress. She attended the Ulsan Art High School as a dance-major. Yura is presently attending the Dongduk Women’s University alongwith her fellow group member Minah.

She joined the K-pop girls group Girl’s Day in 2010 and she replaced one of the former members. Dream Tea promoted Girl’s Day before their debut by creating an official Fan Café, a YouTube channel and Twitter accounts for the group and each member. The group also organized a flash mob dance in the commercial and entertainment districts of Seoul, generating a lot of interest.

However, on November 8, 2010, Yura’s former management company Action Music Entertainment filed an injunction against Yura, that prevented her from signing another contract with Dream Tea Entertainment. As a response, Dream Tea representatives claimed that Action Music had violated the terms of contract. The lawsuit was followed up when Action Music claimed having a video of Yura’s unprofessional behaviour. On January 20, 2011, the court ruling went in Yura’s favour.

Yura made her acting debut via Sohu TV’s Chinese drama Secret Angel. She later collaborated with Jevice with their single “I’ll Love You.” Yura has also featured in SBS’s series To The Beautiful You.

She was cast in the sitcom Reckless Family in 2013, and also in a special episode of the KBS night show The Clinic For Married Couple: Love And War 2.

In 2014, Yura appeared in an SBS mini drama Be Arrogant. She went on to become one of their official couples for the variety show We Got Married and was paired with model-actor Hong Jong-hyun.

In 2017, Yura was cast as a new MC of TVN’s Life Bar with Kim Hee-chul, and also as one of the MC’s for KBS Drama’s Beauty Bible 2017 alongside Han Hye-jin and Im Soo-hyang. In 2017, she also featured in a JTBC short drama Hip Hop Teacher.

In 2018, Yura was seen in KBS romance drama Radio Romance.
