Born as Rachel Scott on June 15, 1975 in Laguna Beach, California she is a model and beach volleyball player. She attended the University of Colorado and graduated with a degree in communications. She started four seasons on the volleyball team where she earned her second team. She was a member of the 1993 Big Eight Championship team for the Buffaloes. She has 32 records to her name in the Colorado Volleyball record book, and she is the only Buffalo to record 100 attacks in a single match, swinging 106 times against Iowa State in 1996.

She has won eight beach volleyball championships with three different partners, and her latest win was with Tyra Turner in San Diego on the AVP Tour on August 3, 2008.

In the year 2006, she was the second-seed on the AVP tour along with her partner, the beach volleyball veteran Elaine Youngs. During the 2005 AVP tour, Scott and Youngs beat the top-seeded Kerri Walsh and Misty May in a surprise defeatat the Huntington Beach Open, which brought to an end the two-time Olympic Gold medal winning team’s victorious streak of 50 straight wins. The duo went on to win five events together, on the AVP Tour with three wins coming in 2005 and two in 2008.

Her fame as a star player skyrocketed dramatically and she is considered to be among the very few players capable of beating the Kerri Walsh-Misty May pair. However, just before the biggest American tournament of the year in August 2006, the pair of Scott and Young split prior to the 2006 Manhattan Beach Open. There was no explanation for the pair’s parting ways. Scott went on to pair with Jen Kessy Boss and defeated Young and her new partner Nicole Branagh in their first ever meeting at the Coney Island Open. Scott’s fan base among the AVP fans has been expanding. She was named as the best defensive player and most improved player of the year in 2005. She also won the most improved player of the year on the BVA Tour.

Scott won two FIVB Grand Slam events in 2004, and these were her first two career victories, alongside the Olympic Gold winner Walsh, when she filled in for the injured May-Treanor.
