Born on April 17, 1989 as Paraskevi “Voula” Papachristou in Athens, Greece, she is a Greek triple jumper and long jumper. Papachristou won the bronze medal at the 2008 World Junior Championships. She participated in the 2009 European Indoor Championships and qualified with a jump of 14.47 metres. Unfortunately, an injury forced her to register a valid jump in the finals. She won the bronze medal at the 2009 Mediterranean Games and competed in the 2009 World Championships without making it to the final round. She was the winner of the 2009 European U23 Championships in the same season. During the 2011 indoor season, she competed in the qualifying rounds of the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships but failed to reach the finals. She had a personal best jump of 14.72 metres in June 2011 in Chania, and her mark gave her the third place among the Greek female triple jumpers. This was also the second-best effort by any European Under-23 athlete. She managed to defend her gold medal at the 2011 European UU23 Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

She was all set to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics, but, was fired from the Greek team on July 25, 2012 after posting a message on her Twitter account which translated to “With so many Africans in Greece, the West Nile mosquitoes will at least eat homemade food!!” She was referring to a minor outbreak of West Nile Virus in Greece that resulted in five people falling sick and one death. Despite apologizing for her tweet later, she was slammed by the Greek Olympic Committee and called it contrary to Olympic values and ideals.

During the 2015 World Indoor Championships in Portland, she won the bronze medal at the European Championships held in Amsterdam. During the Summer Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, she was placed eighth.
