Born on June 15, 1960 in Nice in the department of Alpes-Maritimes, France as Michele Laroque, she is a French actress, comedian, humorist, producer and screenwriter. Her parents are Romanian dancer and violinist Doina Trandabur, who had escaped to France during Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej’s regime in the Communist Romania. Her father is a French doctor Claude Laroque, who had met Doina a year earlier on a tour. Michele is also the niece of Pierre Laroque, the creator of Social Security in France. She studied Economics and English, took comedy classes alongside in Antibes and then relocated to the United States on a campus in Austin, Texas. In the year 1979, alongside her best friend, she was hurt in a car accident and it resulted two years of hospitalisation, a long convalescence and a long period re- education. After a lengthy coma and related psychological trauma, she decided to become a comedian. Her TV debut happened in a humorous programme titled La Classe hosted by Fabrice that aired every evening on
FR3 in 1988, and that’s where she met Pierre Palmade, Muriel Robin and Jean-Marie Bigard.
In the year 1989, she played her first role in the movie Suivez cet avion and later minor roles in Le Mari de la coiffeuse (1990), Une époque formidable (1991) and also starred in the lead role. She received a nomination for the Cesar Award for Best Supporting Actress in La Crise (1992), and Pedale douce (1996). She joined Les Enfoires and is also a member of the special tours and spectacles for Les Restos du Coeur. Laroque is also the spokesperson for the association Enfance et Partage.
In the year 2002, she voice Captain Amelia in a French adaptation of animated film Treasure Planet. In 2007, she featured in the advertisement for the game Brain Age 2: More Training In Minutes a Day on Nintendo DS.
