Born as La Toya Yvone Jackson on May 29, 1956, she is an American singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and TV personality. During her early years, La Toya was shy. After her mother became a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1965, La Toya and her siblings followed. She used to spend some of her time alongside her mother, going door-to-door preaching. She said, “Every morning, Michael and I witnessed, knocking on doors around Los Angeles, spreading the word of Jehovah.”

Jackson first came to public notice on the family’s variety TV series, The Jacksons on CBS between 1976 and 1977. Her recording career went downhill after her controversial marriage to her entertainment manager, Jack Gordon, whom she was reportedly forced to marry against her will. Jackson and Gordon divorced in 1997 and she made a comeback to the music industry in 2004 with the singles “Just Wanna Dance” and “Free the World” which were successful on the Hot Dance Club Play chart in the US. On July 13, 2009, an interview was published in News of the World and the Daily Mail wherein Jackson made public her belief that Michael Jackson was murdered. After a few weeks, the Los Angeles County Coroner ruled his death a homicide.

On May 24, 2018, she visited El hormiguero to sponsor the musical ‘Forever: The Best Show about The King of Pop. In the same year, she participated in a celebrity edition of Food Netowrk’s Worst Cooks in America.
