Born as Eleanor Geisman on October 7, 1917 (died on July 8, 2006), she was an American stage, film and TV actress, dancer and singer renowned as June Allyson.

Her career started in 1937 as a dancer in short subject films and on Broadway in 1938. She was signed by MGM in 1943, and became famous in the following year after appearing in Two Girls and a Sailor. Her girl next door image was consolidated during the mid 1940s when she was paired with actor Van Johnson in six films. She was the winner of a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in Too Young To Kiss (1951). From 1959 to 1961, she hosted and at times starred in her own anthology series The DuPont Show With June Allyson, aired on CBS.

During the 1970s, she made a stage comeback and starred in Forty Carats, and No, No, Nanette. Her autobiography titled June Allyson by June Allyson released in 1982, and she kept working as a guest actress on TV and occasional movie projects. She also established the June Allyson Foundation for Public Awareness and Medical Research. She worked towards raising funds for research in urological and gynaecological diseases among the older people. She also became a spokesperson for Depend Undergarmets. In a highly successful marketing campaign that has been given the credit for reducing the social stigma of incontinence, she featured prominently. Her last on-screen appearance was in 2001.

Allyson had married four times to three husbands, and had two children with her first husband. She died in July 2008 at the age of 88.
