Gila Golan was born as Zosia Zawadzka in the year 1940 and is a former fashion model and actress form Israel.

The sexy Golan was born in Krakow, Poland in the year 1940 and was hidden from Nazis at an early age. However, she later started celebrating her birthday on December 30, 1940 as that was the day she was discovered as an unclaimed baby on the streets of Krakow. A Roman Catholic family spotted her abandoned in a bundle at a train station during the Holocaust, and they adopted her during the war.

Her adopted family called her Zoshia Zavatski. After the World War II was over, she went to a home for ‘lost’ Jewish children. She landed in Israel in the year 1951 as Zusia Sobetzcki and later became Miriam Goldenberg and kept studying in an Orthodox girls’ boarding school. In just a few years, she had joined a Kibbutz and started studying to become a teacher.

An American photographer spotted her and she later featured in an Israeli women’s fashion magazine Lalsha. Her new found fame got her a spot in the 1960 national fashion competition where she was crowned as Na’arat Israel “Israel’s Maiden of Beauty.” Later she changed her name to Gila Golan to prevent the news of her success reach her conservatively religious benefactors. After she was placed second in that year’s Miss World competition as the representative of Israel, she was sent to the USA to raise funds. During her time as a model in New York, she landed a contract with Columbia Pictures.

The director Stanley Kramer launched her film career with the role of Elsa Lutz in a film Ship Of Fools (1965). She further acted in Our Man Flint (1966), I Dream of Jeannie (1966), Three On A Couch (1966), Catch as Catch Can(1967) and The Valley of Gwangi (1969).
