Born on May 28, 1985 as Colbie Marie Caillat is an American singer, songwriter. Caillat was born in Malibu, California, and raised in Newbury Park, California. Her father, Ken Caillat, co-produced Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (1977), and Tusk (1979) albums. At the time she was an infant, her parents nicknamed her “Coco” and later she gave this name to her debut album. Caillat took piano lessons as a child, but, didn’t have significant inspiration until she was 11 after she was enchanted by Lauryn’s Hill’s performance in Sister Act 2. She figured out that she wanted to be a singer, and started taking vocal lessons, performing onstage for the first time in sixth grade. Breakthrough was also nominated as the Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards. She also was a member of the group that won Album of the Year at the 2010 Grammy Awards for her background vocals and writing on the Taylor Swift album ‘Fearless.’ In July 2011, she released her third studio album, All of You and in October 2012 she came out with her first Christmas album, Christmas in the Sand.
