Born as Emillie Claudette Chauchoin on September 13, 1903 (died on July 30, 1996), she was an American stage and film actress. Colbert’s career started in Broadway productions during the late 1920s and she soon made it through to the films with the introduction of Talking films. At first she worked with Paramount Pictures, and later started working as a freelance actress. She received the Academy Award for Best Actress for It Happened One Night (1934), and was nominated for Academy Awards two more times. Her other major films include Cleopatra (1934) and The Palm Beach Story (1942).
