Born as Cathilee Deborah “Cat” Albert on July 1, 1982, she is an American MMA fighter who participates in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Zingano’s career started in combat sports at the age of 12. She attended the Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado where she was involved with combat sports after becoming a member of the wrestling team. She ultimately joined both the University of the Cumberlands team and MacMurray College women’s wrestling teams and was a 4-time All-American and National Champion.

In the year 2007, Zingano came across Brazilian martial arts form Jiu Jitsu, soon after she started and won many tournaments such as the World Championships (Mundials) in Los Angeles, and the Rio de Janeiro State Championships in Brazil as well as various state titles in Colorado. In October 2007, she competed in her first amateur MMA fight and she realized immediately that MMA was something her heart wanted to be involved in.

Zingano’s pro MMA debut happened on June 13, 2008 at Ring of Fire 32, and she defeated Karina Taylor with a submission with an armbar in the opening round. In February 2013, Zingano was announced as a participant in the second women’s match in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history. She tok on Miesha Tate on April 13, 2013 at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale. Zingano beat Tate by TKO in the third round. That fight was called as the Fight of the Night. She became the first woman to win a UFC fight by technical knockout. As on December 12, 2018, Zingano was ranked number 5 on the official UFC bantamweight rankings. Zingano married Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Mauricio Zingano in the year 2010. Her husband committed suicide on January 13, 2014. She has a son named Brayden and is the first mother ever to compete in the UFC.
