Born as Brooke Gabrielle Fraser on 15 December 1983, she is a New Zealand singer and songwriter best known for her hit single “Something in the Water” (2010). Fraser is the oldest of three siblings born to former All Black Bernie Fraser and his wife Lynda. She was born in Lautoka, Fiji. She has two brothers, Matthew who is living in Wellington and Shea, a resident of Dunedin. Brooke was raised in Naenae, Lower Hutt and attended the Dyer Street School, Naenae Intermediate School and Naenae College.

From the age of seven until seventeen, Fraser took piano lessons. She was twelve when she started writing songs and when she was fifteen-years-old, she self-taught herself the acoustic guitar. She started writing for the Soul Purpose magazine when she was fifteen and she later became the editor in the year 2002. She left her job soon after moving to Auckland in late 2002 to

follow a career in music.

She released her third album titled Flags in 2010 and it happens to be her most successful album to date. Her latest album, Brutal Romantic came out in November 2014 through Vagrant Records. She is among the best selling and the most loved New Zealand recording artists ever. Her albums have received 15x Platinum. Fraser also happens to be a member of the Christian music group Hillsong Worship and she was also the songwriter and lead vocalist of the Grammy winning song “What a Beautiful Name” which was listed under her married name Brooke Ligertwood.

After her first album did well, Fraser relocated to Sydney, Australia. On 17 March 2008, she married Scott Ligertwood in Sydney and changed her name to Brooke Ligertwood. In March 2015, Fraser announced her pregnancy. Her daughter Dylan Wilde Ligertwood was born on 18 September 2015. Fraser is presently a resident of Los Angeles where hs sometimes joins the Sunday worship team at the Hillsong Church, Los Angeles. Her other daughter Rooney Ives Ligertwood was born on 10 July 2017.
