Born as Alaina Kalanj on April 17, 1980 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, she is a Canadian movie and television actress, better known as Alaina Huffman. She was 13 years old when she went to her first audition for a Fox Family Channel pilot. She was offered the main lead, despite there being strong competition. Soon a model scout recruited Huffman and she was all set to model in high fashion runways in Europe and Japan for the years to follow.
When her parents relocated to Dallas, she spotted an opportunity to reside in the United States and enrol in college, abandoning her modelling career. During her school time, she took on acting roles in various independent films. Eventually, she shifted to Los Angeles where she grabbed more television roles.
She is famous for the Canadian TV series Painkiller Jane, where she played the role of Maureen Bowers. She also featured as Dinah Lance/Black Canary on Smallville, and also as 1 st Lt. Tamara Johansen in Stargate Universe, where she happened to be a regular cast member. She played the role of Abaddon in Supernatural.
Alaina has four children from her ex-husband John Huffman, sons Elijah and Lincoln, and daughters Hanna and Charley-Jane. Charley Jane was born on December 8, 2009. On August 16, 2011, she made an announcement on Twitter that she was expecting a fourth child to arrive in December, 2011.
