Born on November 21, 1948, as Deborah ‘Debbie’ Shelton, she is an American beauty queen and actress.

She was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. She did her graduation from Norview High School and attended Old Dominion University. In the year 1970, Shelton participated in the Miss Virginia USA pageant to tease her then boyfriend. She won the pageant and represented Virginia in the Miss USA 1970 pageant held in Miami, Florida in May 1970. She went on to get crowned as Miss USA 1970. She was crowned by former winner Wendy Dascomb and was the first time that a state had won the Miss USA crown back to back. Shelton further participated in the Miss Universe pageant and finished as the first runner up to Marisol Malaret of Puerto Rico.

In March 1974, she featured on the cover of Playboy Magazine and later starred in the film Blood Tide. Filmed in the Greek islands, the 1982 movie had her singing a song during the end credits co-written with Shuki Levy, her second husband.

She further made numerous guest appearances on TV shows like Fantasy Island, The A-Team, T.J. Hooker, The Fall Guy, Cheers, The Love Boat, Riptide, and Get A Life. In 2008, she was cast to play a wealthy housewife in American TV show Nip/Tuck.

She is best known for playing the role of Mandy Winger in Dallas. After the exit of the character, there was a severe fan backlash, forcing the producers to reintroduce the character. Shelton was featured in the series from 1984 to 1987.

In the year 1991 and 1992, Shelton returned to Miss USA pageant, offering commentary during the event.

In 2012, she returned in a guest role on the revived Dallas where she appeared as an older Mandy Winger for JR Ewing’s memorial service.
