Born as Amy Elizabeth Taylor on June 11, 1979 in Canberra, Australia, she is a retired Australian association football player and media personality. Amy was raised in Tuggeranong. She started playing football at Tuggeranong United FC. At the club level, she played almost 100 games for the Canberra Eclipse in the now discontinued Australian Women’s National Soccer League, and played professional football for Hampton Roads Piranhas in the USL W-League.

She was a member of the Australian women’s national soccer team, nicknamed as “The Matildas,” and she played as a defender in more than twenty international matches. She was first selected in the team in 1997, when she was only 17-years-old, and six years after she had started playing soccer. In the same year, she was called up to play in the 1997 Women’s U.S. Cup as a replacement for the injured defender Bridgette Starr, and she scored her first international goal while the Matildas lost 9-1 to the United States. Taylor remained an unused substitute during the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and in that year itself, she appeared on the cover of nude calendar depicting current Matilda’s players, aimed at lifting the profile of the women’s game and raise funds to support the activities of the national team. She ended up being excluded from the Australian team for the 2000 Summer Olympics. After spending a year away from international soccer, Taylor came back to the Matildas in 2004 to participate in the Olympic Qualifiers. She was again a substitute player for the 2004 Olympics tournament.

She had a reputation of being a gutsy defender and an aggressive tackler, and Taylor’s playing style often resulted in injuries and that eventually led to the end of her football career. After she underwent two reconstructive surgeries on her ankles after the Matildas 2004 season, Taylor retired from competitive football.

Her appearance on the Matilda’s calendar paved way for appearances in a number of magazines and print ads as a model. She became a presenter on WIN Television in Australia on a fishing program called Fishing Australia. She later became the sports presenter for WIN News, and went on to become one of the most popular personalities on WIN. Alongside her role on WIN News, she also happens to be a sideline commentator for ABC’s telecast of the W-League national women’s competition.

Starting in August 2016, Amy started hosting a 4-hour music program on Wollongong’s i98 FM titled Chilled Sundays. Amy is married to Matt Duggan and the couple has three children.
