Layla El is a dancer, model and professional wrestler from England. She was born on 25 June 1977 in London, England. Layla worked as a dancer for Carnival Cruise Lines of the National Basketball Association after studying from Performing Arts College. She also performed for MTV Video Music Awards and earned a contract with WWE Company. She moved to ECW in 2007 after making her debut with the SmackDown brand.
She formed a dance troupe with Kelly Kelly and Brooke Adams named as Extreme Exposé. She moved to the RAW brand in 2008 and began working as a manager of William Regal. She formed her alliance with Michelle McCool making a return to SmackDown. In 2010, Layla became the first British woman to win the WWE Women’s Championship. After a year-long absence due to injury, she won the WWE Divas Championship in April 2012.
She participated in the $250,000 WWE Diva Search contest-winning an obstacle course and a talent competition. She made her appearance with other divas in 2006 SummerSlam pay-per-view. After working with SummerSlam she moved to SmackDown appearing in an interview with Mike “The Miz” Mizanin. She got into a confrontation with Kristal and Jillian Hall on the 22 September episode of SmackDown!
She made her debut in the ring with a Diva’s battle royal. The match was a controversial one with Kristal winning it after Layla was pulled out of the ring by The Miz. Layla teamed with Ashley in a tag team match to defeat Kristal and Jillian Hall. In SmackDown brand she began a feud with Eve Torres but eventually lost the fight to her. Layla underwent surgery in 2015, she made a comeback defeating Emma in a singles match. In the same year, Layla announced her retirement from professional wrestling. Layla El married Richard Young in 2015.
