Born as Shelley Deborah Conn on September 21, 1976, she is an English actress. She was born in Barnet in North London to Anglo-Indian parents. Her mixed heritage includes Portugese, Burmese and Indian. She also studied at the Queen Mary’s College in Basingstoke and Weber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Conn received training at Bretton Hall. She studied at Cranbourne School in Basingstoke. After she was done with the drama school, Conn played small roles in a number of British films, before she became famous after starring as Ashika Chandiramani in the BBC series Party Animals. In 2001, she was cast as PC Miriam Da Silva in BBC 1’s Mersey Beat and an infrequent role in Casualty.

Conn debuted on the West End theatre stage in three plays in December 2002, after she transferred from Stratford-upon-Avon in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Jacobean Season at the Gielgud Theatre – The Island Princess, Eastward Ho!, and The Roman Actor. Conn now works on al three media (television, film and theatre) and has played a series of leading roles in various small budget European films and also some British films, BBC character dramas such as The Innocence Project and occasional returns to the RSC. Conn joined the cast of Series Five of famous BBC One series Down to Earth in 2004. In the early 2008, Conn starred as Miranda Hill in The Palace, as Jessica in Mistresses and as Neela Sahjani in Trial & Retribution.

In the year 2009, she appeared as Claire in Dead Set. In 2010, she appeared as Danni Prendiville in the TV series Strike Back. She was selected by Steven Spielberg as one of the leads in his $150 million TV series Terra Nova, which premiered on September 26, 2011. In 2014, Conn was cast in a US TV series titled The Lottery. Conn is a resident of London and she ran in the 2006 London Marathon. Conn married her boyfriend, actor Jonathan Kerrigan around 2011, after over a decade of dating. Their son Oscar was born in April 2012.
