Born as Nina Betschart on October 14, 1995 in Steinhausen, Switzerland, she is a Swiss professional beach volleyball player. She started her career in indoor volleyball at the VBC Steinhausen with her friend Nicole Elholzer. Later Betschart and Elholzer formed a beach volleyball duo supervised by the coach Kurt Brunner, the first and only coach that the pair had. From 2008 to 2013, they won the Swiss Junior Championships in all the categories that they competed in: U15 (2008-2009), U18 (2010), and U21 (2011, 2012, 2013).

In the year 2011, they reached the fifth place in the U19 World Championships in Umag. They made it to the final at the U18 European Championships in Vinius, but, lost to the favorite top seeded team of Dumbauskaite/Povilaityte in three sets (17-21), 22-20), 13-15), and had to contend with silver medal.

Betschart joined hands with Joana Heidrich after she replaced Heidrich’s original teammate Anouk Verge-Depre who was not able to participate in the World Championships due to health problems, and they became the U21 World Champions after defeating the top-seeded Canadian pair of Altomare/Humana-Paredes in three sets. They were the first Swiss pair to win the World Junior Championships title and aged at 15 years and 10 months. Betschart further became the youngest gold medal winner in the history of the FIVB U21 World Championships. After their international accomplishments, Betschart and Heidrich made it to the cover of the September 2011 issue of Swiss Volley magazine.

She won a gold medal at the inaugural European Games in 2015, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Year by Swiss Volley in 2017.

Betschart is a resident of Bern where she lives with fellow Swiss beach volleyball player Elena Steinemann, and they share a flat together. Betschart has also begun a distance education in psychology with the objective of working with children in future. Her sister Mara is also a beach volleyball player.
