When Mortal Kombat first came out in 1995, it was produced at a mediocre budget, which was evident in one scene where our young heroes are having a conversation with Raiden on a boat at night and lightbulbs were used as stars and a dark tarp was used to depict the ocean.
The popular classic video game movie is now getting a reboot in 2019, and here are 12 actors who we would like to see cast in the reboot.
Liu Kang – Daniel Wu
Wu currently stars as Sunny in AMC’s Into the Badlands and is a notable figure in the Chinese movie industry. Daniel Wu could play the main hero Liu Kang.

Kano – Manu Bennett
Manu Bennett played Azog the Defiler in The Hobbit, and also acted in the Arrow TV series, Spartacus, and the Shanara Chronicles. Bennett has been roped in to play Kano.

Johnny Cage – Scott Adkins
Scott Adkins is a martial arts expert who has starred in the Undisputed film series with Yuri Boyka.
Adkins martial arts mastery perfectly suits the fighting style of Johnny Cage, so we personally can’t wait to see how Adkins’ will use his skills to kick ass the whole way.

Kitana – Megan Fox
Kitana is a popular character in the Mortal Kombat franchise, and even though Megan Fox not known for her fighting skills, her roles in the Transformer movies proves that she’s no stranger to action movies.
Besides, it would be a great opportunity for her to learn a few martial arts moves to show off with in the movie, and whatever she lacks, CGI can more make up for.

Nightwolf – Jason Momoa
Justice League and Aquaman star Jason Momoa could play Native-American hoodoo master Nightwolf. Thanks to his role as KhalDrogo in Game of Thrones, there is more than enough evidence to show how good Momoa would look playing a towering, muscled, half-clothed warrior wielding a weapon.

Scorpion – Tony Jaa
Another martial arts expert, Tony Jaa, joins the cast to play Scorpion. Jaa was known for his role in the movie Ong-Bak, and has since then has gone from strength to strength in the movie industry. Scorpion is one of the biggest characters in the franchise. Therefore, a lot of responsibility lies on Jaa’s shoulders to do the character justice.

Sonya Blade – Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey would be the perfect Sonya Blade. Rousey’s already had roles in The Expendables and the Fast and Furious movies, so we can look forward to seeing her in the reboot.

Jax – Michael Jai White
He starred as anti-hero Spawn and as a super soldier in Universal Soldier 2. He’s also written, directed and starred in his own movies, which incorporate both martial arts and comedy, and does a great job at both.

Sub-Zero – IkoUwais
Sub-Zero is the most popular Mortal Kombat character. IkoUwais has been roped in to play the cold warrior with exuberant martial arts skills. Uwais is the star of The Raid film series.

Raiden – Liam Neeson
Liam Neeson will play Raiden the thunder god. Neeson’s skills will include shooting lightning from his hands and looking completely badass doing so.

Shao Kahn – Vin Diesel
The lord of death and destruction will be played by Vin Diesel. Diesel’s reputation as a badass will pack a serious amount of star power as Shao Khan in this movie.

Shang Tsung – Robin Shou
Shou first started off in the original movie playing the hero Liu Kang who fought against the forces of darkness. Now, he will play Shang Tsung, his enemy and the source of the darkness.
It’s a great way to come full circle to see how Shou will play the bad guy
And there you have it: here are all the elements readily available at our disposal to make a great video game movie.
